Update Aug 29, 2025

Israel’s ground invasion and leveling of neighborhoods in Gaza city accelerates. Displacement is emmient, very stressful, dangerous in many places. Funds desperately needed for tent and transportation to the South/Central areas. Thanks to our fundraiser, this family has eaten, a small amount, every day for the last month. See below for more detailed update.

Update Aug 24, 2025

**UPDATE Aug 1, 2025: I’ve updated my fundraising target to reflect rising costs of securing cash and buying food. $5000 are needed immediately for the month of August to ensure Mohammed’s immediate family of 5 does not starve to death in the next 4-6 weeks. The more we raise, the more people will be helped. This money will allow them to secure one small meal per day, and give them a good chance at extended survival.**

Hello my friends,

I, Erica, made this project to help my friend Mohammed in northern Gaza help his family to survive this next year, whatever it may bring, whether that be simply surviving, starting to rebuild in Gaza or beginning again as refugees.

As the world waits, hopes, and acts for a cease-fire, for more aid, for liberation for Palestine, and end to the war, end of the genocide, Israeli attacks continue on Gaza every single day (with American bombs and funds, of course). The blockade continues with minimal food distributed at the deadly and inhumane aid stations that have been compared to real life squid games which have already killed 800 people and injured thousands of others. More than 100 Palestinian civilians die every single day through violent attack, but more die every day from lack of access to medicines, food and clean water. And from the accumulated stress of exposure, malnutrition, bombardment, disease, and oppression. I could go on and on and on. Follow my Instagram stories @ericadawnf for current events updates.

The limited goods for sale on the marketplaces are expensive, so is getting cash into Gaza. Moneychangers charge a 40 to 50% fee. It’s economic warfare. It’s starvation. Imagine if a 5 pound bag of flour cost $50 and you also had no money or a way to get money.

Still, for people in Gaza, even limited cash means access to possibilities, resources, safer food, and hope. My goal is to find 100 humans who will give this family a sustaining donation of at least five dollars a month for the next year.

This will provide them a minimum amount of security or advantage in a difficult and impossible circumstance.

I would like to invite you to join me and trying to save this family’s life.

This family includes Mohammed Jouda (23), His younger siblings Mahmoud and Jana (8), his parents, Several other children, aunts, uncles and elders.

People in Gaza are educated. They had careers. They want to work, have their homes and self-sufficiency. They dreamed of life and a future. Mohammed is halfway through a degree in computer science/computer programming at a university that is now a pile of rubble in Gaza. He speaks four languages and has already received acceptance and a scholarship to New York Univeristy to finish his degree– Of course he is trapped in Gaza until the world decides he’s worthy to live his life. He loves fashion, art, and beautiful things. He’s lived his entire life under Israel’s blockade. He’s never left Gaza, never seen a civilian airplane, only experienced the outside world through the Internet. But despite all this, he’s funny and gracious, and a pure soul. His favorite TV show is Game of Thrones.

You can contact Mohammed on Instagram @medojoud. Internet has been spotty here lately, but he still gets online most days for a little while.

Thank you for your humanity and your consideration, and for your donation if you are able. Please feel free to share this project as well.

In solidarity for human rights and dignity for all,

Erica
